I met Poisin at a local restaurant last season and was pleased to have recognized her as one of our skaters. She brings a lot to HRD and I thank her for that.
We both have something in common besides our love of roller derby, She works at Humboldt County Mental health, and I retired from there in 2008! I’m going hunting for some chocolate leaping frogs for her!

Our daughter was struggling with everyday life & its obstacles that get in the way when we brought her to a bout and we saw her light-up. We knew right then and there that this sport was for her! Sure enough, it has been a remarkable transformation for our entire family. So, Thunder, congrat’s at being the Volunteer of the Month! You deserve it!

I like reading about their personal lives and their faithful contribution to this sport and HRD. Thanks, Thunder Muffin for what you do and have accomplished with our lovely Saplings! As an older male, I find it amazing how women have taken to sports. there was a time, I confess, when i mocked them—over time my foolishness has been changed as I watch women in sports. I am glad they broke out of the socialized box they were in!
